Republican Presidential Debate

The Internet is the greatest advancement in human history since the invention of the movable type printing press!  Why, you ask?  The Republican Presidential Debate that aired tonight on Fox News is a prime example.  Here is a candidate who is widely loved by libertarians all over the United States and absolutely hated by Fox News and many neoconservative Republicans.  In addition to giving Ron Paul as little time as possible during the debate, Fox did everything in their power to downplay Paul's lead in the public poll.

Following the first Republican debate that aired on MSNBC less than two weeks ago, the poll results were aired almost immediately and showed a clear victory for Ron Poll.  In contrast, Fox News delayed the announcement of the poll results until after they were able to parade their favored candidates through individual sessions in which each candidate was allowed to explain his views, giving them a uneven advantage over others in the poll.  The Fox network waited until Dr. Ron Paul had fallen to 30%, while Mitt Romney sat in second place at 28% before making the results public.  The Fox reporters barely acknowledged Paul's victory and emphasized repeatedly that the polls were not closed.

From RonPaulHQ:

"Right away, he took the lead in Fox News' own text message poll. (Texting, I suppose, was supposed to weed out those pesky Paul supporters.) Then I started reading comments on Politico, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. It's everywhere.

As of midnight, Ron Paul had slipped to second in the Fox poll, with 26% to Romney's 27%, and who knows if/when the results will actually appear. But even at second, that's an overwhelming victory. Dr. Paul went into the lion's den here, he took a horrid beating from Fox, and the official line isn't fooling anyone. He won. And we know it."

When it was finally time for Ron Paul to speak to Hannity and Colmes, Sean Hannity tried to twist Ron's words into a statement he simply didn't make.  See the video for yourself:

Ron Paul's incredibly strong support in the poll despite the slanted Fox coverage shows that large media outlets are slowly losing control over public opinion.  The Internet is a medium to be reckoned with.

I support Ron Paul - He’s is simply the only choice for a conservative/republican who is/was against the war in Iraq. And, believe it or not, there are some! Most intellectual conservatives were against this war before it started in 2003. Did you know that? Pat Buchanan, Tucker Carlson (a little silly, I know) Charley Reese said in 2002 “is a prescription for the decline and fall of the American empire. Overextension – urged on by a bunch of rabid intellectuals who wouldn’t know one end of a gun from another” Paul Craig Roberts, who was one of the highest-ranking Treasury Department officials under President Reagan and now a nationally-syndicated conservative columnist, wrote: “an invasion of Iraq is likely the most thoughtless action in modern history.” On and on and these quotes are from 2002! This war was Undeclared, un-provoked, liberal “nation building” I know it is hard, but we, as conservatives, have got to do some deep thinking about this issue and wake up!
