Libertarians Are Terrorists, Says the State of Alabama

The Alabama Department of Homeland Security (ALDHS), established in June of 2003, has recently constructed a website that defines Domestic Terrorists as those who oppose gun control and a strong federal government.

Under the heading “Anti-Government Groups”, the site displays a flag that is widely considered one of the first symbols of American patriotism and reads, “In general, these terrorists claim that the U.S. government is infringing on their individual rights, and/or that the government's policies are criminal and immoral. Such groups may hold that the current government is violating the basic principles laid out by the U.S. Constitution…”

While Anarchism is defined by a lack of state control and ~~Communism is a~~ Communist states are the maximization of state control, two polar opposite concepts, the page that follows reads, “Anarchists groups are the 21st Century’s version of left wing or communist groups of the last. Anarchists believe that any government or organization that has power over others…will eventually become corrupt and abusive.”

If I’m not mistaken, the idea that government, if not kept in check, will become corrupt and abusive was first made popular in this country by our founding fathers, not a bunch of terrorist anarchist groups. This was the very reason for the implementation of the United States Constitution! In fact even Section 35 of the Alabama Constitution warns of this danger is it declares, “the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression.”

The Alabama.gov site continues, “Most of these groups operate around larger urban areas and colleges/universities… Some are focused on issues such as World Trade, International Debt, and military involvement in foreign cultures… The theme is always the same. Big [government] is bad. Rich are using the poor to stay rich. Our government in particular is using its power immorally.”

In short, if you oppose gun control, taxes, military intervention, most of our national debt being held by foreign nations, or just a large federal government, you might be a terrorist!

The very idea that those who value their personal rights and liberties are being labeled terrorists by the State of Alabama is not only absurd and egregiously offensive, it completely contradicts the ideals our federal and state governments were founded on! The people of Alabama should be outraged!

UPDATE: This is a very late update, but I just wanted to let viewers know that the ALDHS removed this portion of their website aproximately three hours after this blog post was published, thanks to your outcry. I’d like to express my sincerest of thanks to everyone who participated.

Wow. Just wow! I live in Alabama and I have for the last 19 years of my life. To me this website is a mockery for all that I stand for. Though this website does embody everything that most Alabamians believe in, it horrifies me to no end. To think that the people that live around me are the same gun-toting morons that think anybody with a slightly different viewpoint is a terrorist is scary to me. The people of Alabama are just afraid of what’s different. Ignore them.

These guys are the best and need all our support. There are very few places where you can find anyone nearly as principled. Their arguments are so logical and easy to understand that they quickly lift the fog and show the flaws in so many mainstream ideas.

I could find no trace of the above on the current ALDHS website (http://www.dhs.alabama.gov/) – the URL (http://www.homelandsecurity.alabama.gov/tap/home.htm) in your text above may be an old version – I found pretty much the same topics in the current pages, but their definitions are much shorter and _much_ more reasonable. At least one of the linked web pages pointed to by the http://www.homelandsecurity.alabama.gov/tap no longer exists at all.

I did note one of their information bulletins cites the Southern Poverty Law Center, and I’m guessing that’s where all the above nonsense originally came from; the SPLC seems to have made a profitable business out of deliberately scaring people about “hate groups”, among whom they define militias, and then raising funds to help keep an eye on all these supposedly-dangerous groups. It looks like somebody may have caught on to the nonsense on the ALDHS web pages and pulled it when they transitioned from http://www.homelandsecurity.alabama.gov to http://www.dhs.alabama.gov

The quiz linked above is greatly watered down. The links in the left margin of that page supposedly link to TAP pages but it seems that every one of those pages has been taken down. My guess is that a few people called to yell at the Alabama DHS and they yanked the information.

The SPLC has been criticized for it’s fund raising, but it has also done some solid work against hate groups. I didn’t find anything on their website like the kind of broad brush on the Alabama DHS site; they appear to focus on groups that advocate violence.

Finally, we Alabamians are not all knuckle draggers. We have a bad habit of electing them, but it’s the spectacular few who create the image the rest of us endure. The political tone most prevalent here is not militant hick, but cynical suburbanite.

Even George Wallace was mostly bluster; he got a lot of support from black voters and actually did a lot to benefit blacks in the state. If you want to single out a villian, try Bear Bryant, who persuaded us to this day that all the problems of the state could be ignored and we could hold our heads high so long as we won football games.

For everybody who has tried to pull up this website, I have finally found the exact same thing on this website: (http://www.pa-aware.org). This is got to be the same since Alabama modeled its program after Pennsylvania. You’ll see the flag that was mentioned. It’s the Gadsden Flag..the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. You’ll also find the SPLC brochure. The SPLC no longer just picks on Confederates. They recently said (in an “intelligence” report) that traditional Catholics were the largest hate group in America. Anyone who is against illegal immigration is on their list.

As an Alabamian, I am embarrassed that our normally fairly level-headed govt. would come out with such an assinine, silly, anti-freedom webpage. Maybe libertarians aren’t a popular or significant party here, but certainly just because one disagrees with a party’s platform is not an excuse to label them as a terrorist!!!!!! Geeesh!

Well.. the link that has been provided by a Dutch site didn;t work (I am Dutch), but is shows that this insane note by the government of Alabama has even reached my country.
In my country there is (and I am actually disagreeing with that) strict gun control.
I personally believe that people should be able to defend themselves from the (sometimes) tyranny of ones government, so therefore I’d prefer relaxing laws on gun control.
Before people will ask for my political views: I am a social-democrat.

Would that make me a terrorist?
Perhaps so… but then again the German occupation force called resistance fighters “terrorists” as well.

There probably won’t be an election. Yesterday Bush has updated the contingency plans so that control remains in the executive branch (see the washingtonpost.com article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/09/AR2007050902719.html ) so perhaps the next false flag will be a “decapitating” attack on DC. Bush declares martial law, and that is that. Read “A Nation in Silent Anger” as well. We all need to get behind Ron Paul, no matter if we’re “liberal” or “conservative”, this transcends normal politics. You have o decide if you’re an American FIRST. I’m so tired of this homeland security BS. Its just going to end up like the CIA, even when there is no need for the organization it will continue to exist. i am a proud radical like my founding fathers before me. i support the ideas of individual freedom that our nation and government were founded on. i am more patriotic then the people who call me a terrorist because i still believe in the countries ideas. i love america and the freedoms allowed in it, how dare they call me a terrorist.

Every president (including Bush Jr.) recited this oath from Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

There goes that crazy president ranting about defending the Constitution again! Are they gonna lock him up as a radical for saying the “C” word?

Please note that it says the Constitution of the United States – not The Bible, not Isreal and not the profits of Haliburton.

Regarding Courts and Habeas Corpus
Well today I was told by my attorney that my case was demurer which means the state says so what. So what if you are diabetic and need to enroll in Adult Swim at your YMCA because of injuries for exercise. So what if you are disabled and we made you move. So what if you live a good honest life. So what if when we made you move you were going to school to learn a trade and we disrupted your life during your finals and you could not finish your training. So what if you and your wife who by the way has never done anything to anyone is waking in the middle of the night crying because you stand to be homeless for fear that no one will rent to you. We lived in an apartment in Burbank CA when someone decided to place flyer’s at our home about my 23 year old sex offense and get us kicked out of our home. Reminds me of the Quote by Pastor Martin Niemöller: First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. We have one week to come up with a bunch of money to fight for rights Americans are losing because they are better than us. Sorry America we have no money. We are poor week to week surviving on what we have which is less each day. When these laws get done with us, they will not be satisfied.

I remember living behind a church were Brian Lamb, and a bunch of these Cspan guys used too have a wood shop. At that place of residence my mom thought I needed an exorcist, after playing in the mud the way very young children will sometimes with my uncle who mixed a glass of this red clay in water and told me it was chocolate milk.

After drinking it as he would force me to do thing all the time like the time he made me cut off the limb I was sitting on and the device came out of my shoulder being more powerful and in control I broke out with ring worm all over my body and my mom told me it was writing that could not be understood so she had priests come in from the church.

I guess my Dad did not know that one of the people at the church was in line for being my new dad but that was not in the cards because I guess he felt I was in need of discipline after an accident in the wood shop. I had been check out on the band saw by my grandfather who was a millwright in Arkansas and to do some jobs the blade shield had to be removed. Some kids came in and wanted to use the saw, then got mad that I wanted to warn them to put the guard on and they told me they owned it all and I was not to tell them anything, and after this head strong kid cut his thumb off the other kids said they would tell their fathers it was all my fault, but it was not.

I had a fever of well over a hundred and I was a bloody mess with the infection. The priests came in with outer guys and one had a camera. The priests would throw me across the room well the other snapped a picture. I would fall on furniture and the floor and they would tell me get on the bed, don’t get off the bed very loud and when I would crawl back on the bed they would pick me up and throw me over and over again well the other priest would snap another picture and this went on till one guy said we have enough picture and they left me in the blood, mud, and bedding, then my aunt came in with some save that was for ring worm.

She spread the save and kidded me about dying when the rings got to my heart. After getting well I went back to the wood shop and the guys had made me a special shield and gave me my sword which were both made of wood and I had to fight one of the guys in my shorts because I did not want to remove them and the other guy was naked (he know who he is). I was still not up too speed and lost the battle. They then called me the bad guy and this group was supposed to be my gate keeper or something like that appointed by the priests. My Dad did not like them much also but that did not matter much because someone at the church was going to be my new dad till he said no, my mom cried allot, my dad was gone, I healed up, but I still have a case.

Please know that there is nothing any of you can do to make what you and the rest of the ones involved can do to make this my fault. See at the time I was about seven years old. Since then the church has made an effort to kill me, to the extent of trying to pass laws to kill sex offenders.

Come on, keep it up, keep pushing laws that you as a group of very said individuals know have no value. Take me too court so I can own a network. I have met with your staff members in private since along with military personal and others.

Now lets note when this happened I was only a small child being thrown around a room like a rag doll by people that started all this clear back in the late fifty’s and the steering by very bad people that think abusing kids to make laws to stop abuse, Ha! these laws are bogus and the fact that they can not kill gays anymore does not justify the use of laws too kill someone set up by them to create some worthless set of laws by a fusion of church and state is wrong and realty designed by them to harm us all.

My case was pragmatic but more than that I know what was done and who was involved making vendetta laws that really have no bases in truth, and are based in lies.

I did note one of their information bulletins cites the Southern Poverty Law Center, and I’m guessing that’s where all the above nonsense originally came from; the SPLC seems to have made a profitable business out of deliberately scaring people about “hate groups”, among whom they define militias, and then raising funds to help keep an eye on all these supposedly-dangerous groups. It looks like somebody may have caught on to the nonsense on the ALDHS web pages and pulled it when they transitioned
